It's In The Song

Scripture: Isaiah 42:10-12

Perhaps you heard it on the radio, watched it on a DVD, or sang it along with others at your place of worship. Maybe you belted it out in the shower, or taught it to your child – or, maybe you just quietly sang it to God – as you worshipped Him alone. Whenever it touched your mind your heart – you knew, there was power in the song.

Music is an awesome gift from God. He uses it to communicate to us in so many ways. One of the most beautiful verses in the word is Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”! God, singing over his children! That is beautiful.

One of my dearest friends had come to help me move. Moving in itself is quite a chore, but the emotional ties that would now be miles a part were causing some heart aching moments. All through the day I could hear my friend – singing! Softly, but singing just the same. It wasn’t until later it dawned on me. That is how she was making it through those difficult moments. Her heart was holding steady by the power of the song.

Did you know our future is even revealed in a song? Oh, yes! The song of the redeemed! We who know Him must sing it now – so we can sing it then! Sing out the song – His blood still cleanses from all sin! Sing out the song – there is power in the name of Jesus! Sing out the song – to all who are hurting, and lonely, and lost – Jesus has healing, comfort, and forgiveness! Sing out the song – the song of the marvelous, matchless, love of God!

Sing it loud – sing it soft – or anywhere in between -- but sing it!
